Ever since I started this blog, I have been getting mails from people who are desperate to start their business online. Well, their enthusiasm is hugely appreciated and they have very good reasons for their eagerness in getting their business online.

For one, the online market is still a huge one and majority of its potential is still untapped. Added to this is the crucial fact that by 2020, approximately 68 % new entrepreneurs are expected to start their business online. It always helps to get in the rat race at the beginning, what say?

Okay so today’s post is a systematic summary of all those replies that I have given to my readers who mailed asking me for solutions to getting their online business started.

The numero uno obstacle for majority of these wannabe online entrepreneurs is the lack of a viable idea. They are at a loss at understanding how to find / source ideas that will convert into a great business online. For those who have this doubt, my suggested solutions are as follows:

Some of my readers already had a business idea in mind, but did not know how to get started with it. Okay so for these folks, my suggestion is to start a website of their own. This suggestion holds good for any kind of business online.

Many people may argue and try to say that it is not necessary to have one’s own website to make money online. It may work for them, but I do not support those views. In my opinion, having one’s own website only has pros and no cons, so why should you stop short of having one? It does not cost you more than a few dollars each year to maintain a website anyway.

There is another group of entrepreneurs who have already started a website but have no clue how to go from there. They do not know how to get customers to their business online. They want to know how they can market/ promote their business to potential customers.

Hmm, actually this question and its appropriate answer merits a detailed post but let me see how I can summarize the top 4 tips for you as listed below:

1) Start a blog

2) Add content that is fresh, unique, interesting, relevant and of course SEO optimized for keywords that are highly relevant to your business

3) Social networking, book marking and sharing of this content

4) Interacting with customers, fans, readers and visitors in an appropriate manner

# 4- How to Get Repeat Customers for Your Business Online?

Obviously this question is raised by those online business owners who have managed to complete all 3 steps mentioned until now. Hey are interested in maintaining their business online. The best way to get repeat customers is to focus on excellent customer service and support.

Many business owners make the mistake of thinking that their entire focus should be directed towards selling their stuff to the customer and once that’s done, no more interactions are necessary. Wrong, there could be nothing more erroneous than this thought.

Just like engaging in after play after making love, interacting with your customers even after you have sold them your stuff ensures that they remember you when one of their friends / colleagues / family members asks them for reference while buying something that you sell.

Do not tick their name off your email marketing list; keep sending them promotional newsletters, latest offers, new arrivals and so on. Yeah and don’t forget to offer repeat customers a discount / freebie that they will value.
