Clones are so boring; no one pays any attention to them. If you want to get hired for freelance writing gigs, stop imitating others and let your uniqueness shine. Many freelance writers send cookie cutter proposals for every project that they apply for.

And a huge majority of them also copy the same stuff that other freelance writers have put up on their profile, with just a few alterations in the experience or name of projects done. Don’t do this, because it only encourages the client to discard your proposal. Don’t be a copy cat, just be yourself and let the client know the real facts about you.

Tip # 2-One-Line Proposals Don’t Work for Freelance Writing Gigs

Many freelance writers are so lazy that they expect the clients to select them even if they type a one-line proposal which reads something like this, “Hi, I can do this project because I am an expert freelance writer”. Oh, really? Do you think you are so skilled that the client will fall in love with your cryptic proposal and promptly award the project to you?

Take some time to read through the project requirements and draft your proposal letter accordingly. Let the client know about your experience in working on similar projects in the past. Add any relevant details that will assure the client of your capability in completing the project done successfully.

Tip # 3- Honesty is the Best Policy

Some freelance writers think that making tall claims and bragging about their writing skills are a sure shot way to land freelance writing gigs. There could be no thought more foolish than this. Clients are seeking the best writer with the best skills, who will prove to be worth every cent they spend in hiring them.

Instead of bragging, be honest about your abilities and send several samples of work or provide links to your online work samples. Make sure that the samples relate to the project. For example if the project is about weight loss, then make sure that your work samples are in the same niche or at least a related niche like fitness, muscle building etc.

Let the client review your work and decide if you are the best fit for his/ her project, rather than you claiming so.


Tip # 4- False Promises Don’t Last Long

Most of the freelance writing jobs that are advertised have a particular deadline before which the hired freelance writer is expected to complete the job. I have seen many freelancers place a bid on urgent projects even when they know for sure that it is impossible for them to complete the project within the mentioned deadline.

They think that once they land the gig, they will somehow convince the client to extend the deadline. Some even think that once the advance payment is done, the client will be forced to wait until the writer completes the project, even if it means delayed submissions.

Do not do this because even if you land a few freelance writing gigs by fluke using such false promises, clients will leave a bad feedback for you. When negative feedbacks start piling up, you will find it difficult to land any more gigs in future, even if you are fully competent.
